Delta One’s 2026 refresh starts at LAX: what changes now, and what waits until 2027
The announcement brings several upgrades together, but they do not all arrive on the same day. The most useful detail for travellers is the rollout schedule.
Flight reviews7
Delta’s service refresh starts with transoceanic Delta One departures from Los Angeles this autumn, with broader expansion in 2027. Drinks, amenity kits and future suites have separate dates. A ticket bought today should be judged against the changes scheduled for its own flight and travel date.
01A service refresh with several starting lines

- Announced
- 14 October 2026
- Initial scope
- Transoceanic Delta One from LAX, autumn
- Later expansion
- Global network planned for 2027
Delta announced a substantial refresh of Delta One on October 14, 2026, including dining, tableware, drinks and amenities. Its initial scope is transoceanic Delta One flights departing Los Angeles this autumn, with expansion across the global network in 2027. This article was checked on October 18, 2026, at 22:40 Japan time.
For travellers, the distinction between an announcement and a completed rollout matters more than the list of brands. An LAX departure, the return flight to LAX and a journey through another hub should not automatically be treated as receiving the same package on the same date. Delta’s initial wording specifies departures from Los Angeles.
AirlineGeeks and Upgraded Points both reported the refresh on October 14. Their coverage confirms that this is a current industry topic, but much of the underlying detail comes from Delta’s announcement. Those reports are not independent flight tests of every element of the new service.
02The dates that belong beside the headlines
| Timing | Change | Scope to keep in mind |
|---|---|---|
| Autumn 2026 | Reworked dining and service experience begins | Transoceanic Delta One departures from LAX first |
| November 3, 2026 | DASSAI 45 and winter Missoni kits begin | Sake is specified for flights to and from Tokyo Haneda; kit rollout is a separate item |
| December 1, 2026 | Blanton’s bourbon begins | A drinks addition, not a fleet-wide seat replacement |
| 2027 | Broader service rollout; next-generation A350-1000 suites | The new service and new aircraft are separate programmes |
| March / April 2027 | New cocktails and mocktails | International routes in March; domestic routes in April |
This timetable is useful because it prevents one photograph or headline from standing in for the whole trip. A November flight can fall after the amenity-kit launch and before the bourbon launch. A 2027 flight can receive revised service without necessarily being operated by the new A350-1000. The cabin assignment still deserves its own check.
03The meaningful change may be a simpler meal, not a bigger one

- Earlier cut-off
- 24h before departure
- New cut-off
- 18h before departure
- Difference
- 6 more hours to pre-select
The announcement includes more ways to choose how much of the flight to spend eating. Delta describes lighter choices and an option intended for passengers who prefer more rest before arrival. It also moves entrée pre-selection closer to departure, to 18 hours beforehand rather than 24.
A six-hour extension is practical for someone who finalises work or travel plans shortly before leaving. It is not a promise that every dish will remain available until the deadline. The useful action is to review the choices attached to the actual reservation when they become available.
For an overnight traveller, the real value may be the ability to settle down sooner. A more elaborate meal is enjoyable when the flight is long enough to leave ample sleeping time. On a shorter night, a lighter option may be worth more than an additional course. That is a preference to communicate on the trip, not a reason to assume a fixed service duration.
04What this changes when comparing tickets
Read the diagram as text
- Onboard refresh
- Confirm eligible departure and timing
- Ground benefits
- Fare and travel-date rules still apply
- Whole itinerary
- A meal does not remove a detour
The refresh is a reasonable reason to give an eligible Delta itinerary another look. It is a weaker reason to accept a costly detour or to pay substantially more without confirming the scope. A couple comparing a nonstop with a connection should still put the total fare, departure time and cabin version ahead of a drinks list.
There is also a separate lounge rule to keep in view when shopping for 2027. Delta One Lounge access excludes Delta One Basic, labelled Business Basic, for travel from January 19, 2027. A refreshed onboard service does not erase that fare distinction.
Our recommendation is to retain the normal comparison: the flight you can book, the fare’s included benefits and the time available to enjoy them. The new service can improve that choice, but it does not replace those fundamentals. Once independent travellers have flown the revised product, their photographs and accounts will help show how the announced changes work together in practice.
