BA Club Suite vs JetBlue Mint, New York–London: compare the fare bundle, not just the bed
The old “JetBlue has no lounge” comparison misses today’s decision. Which Mint fare you buy matters, and BA advance-seat selection can also affect the total.

Both products offer a flat bed with aisle access. Mint Base can suit a light-packing traveller who does not need the lounge or an early seat choice. For a fuller airport experience, compare regular Mint with BA and price the extras you will actually use.
01A suite on a narrowbody is still a serious alternative

Compare the same JFK–Heathrow dates, return or one-way consistently, and the actual operating products: BA Club Suite versus A321LR Mint Suite. Older Club World and classic A321 Mint are different layouts. Do not combine Newark or Gatwick fares without pricing the different ground journey.
A couple can choose BA’s central pair, whereas the A321LR arrangement places one suite on each side of the aisle. Neither means sitting within easy reach of a young child. Lattes & Runways discusses that separation in its BA account; the photographs are more useful for this decision than simply calling the seat private.
The Alviator’s JFK–Heathrow account describes a switch from the booked A321LR to another Mint-equipped aircraft, with doors unavailable for closure. It is a daytime flight and should not be presented as evidence of a full night’s sleep. It does illustrate why an equipment-dependent preference needs a fallback.
02Dinner and the morning after can matter more than the door

For an eastbound overnight trip, decide how much of the evening you want to spend eating. BA advertises Goodnight Service on departures after 9pm; JetBlue offers Savor & Sleep on eligible transatlantic lunch/dinner services. Neither turns the scheduled block time into uninterrupted sleeping time.
BA’s Terminal 5 arrivals lounge can be useful after an eligible long-haul Club World arrival. Its regular published hours are 5am–2pm, with breakfast until noon. This is an arrivals facility, not simply another airside connection lounge. Check the travel-date operating notice, including ongoing Heathrow lounge works, before making it central to your plan.
Someone heading straight to an appointment may value a shower and breakfast before leaving the airport. Someone whose hotel has confirmed early access may value them less. Assess the morning you actually have, rather than assign every traveller the same cash value for a lounge.
03Mint Base and Mint are different purchases
Read the diagram as text
- Mint Base
- Later seat choice; lounge not included in the fare.
- Mint or BA
- Check early seat selection and airport access.
- Your complete quote
- Add the extras you need, then compare refund terms.
| JetBlue benefit | Mint Base | Mint | Mint Flex |
|---|---|---|---|
| Checked bags included | One | Two | Two |
| Seat choice | From 24 hours before departure | In advance | In advance |
| BlueHouse at JFK/BOS | Not included in fare | Included | Included |
| Voluntary cancellation | Credit minus fee | Travel credit | Original-payment refund |
BA advance-seat selection depends on fare and status, so it can add to a Club Suite quote. If choosing a particular pair early matters, compare that cost with the difference between Mint Base and Mint. Changes may also require the new fare difference even where the change fee is waived.
| Cost | BA | Mint Base |
|---|---|---|
| Ticket | $2,800 | $2,450 |
| Required seats/bags or other extras | $150 | $220 |
| Complete example total | $2,950 | $2,670 |
The real difference in that example is $280, not the $350 gap between tickets. For two identical bookings it is $560. Replace the inputs with actual quotes and only include services you need. If BlueHouse matters, compare regular Mint directly rather than assuming access can always be added to Base at a convenient price.
Mint Base is a plausible fit if one checked bag is enough, selecting a seat at check-in is acceptable and the lounge has little value. Regular Mint or BA can be the better comparison when early seats and airport time matter. For uncertain dates, the usefulness of travel credit versus a refund may outweigh a modest fare saving.
